FLIGHT TO TOKYO, JAPAN

OK...so we've arrived in Tokyo, Japan. The flight over on Northwest from Detroit, was surprisingly nice. If you're a sardine, that is. It was actually better than I'd expected. The dinner was even pretty decent - no complaints at all.

We had a lady in front of us with a young baby creature. It (he? she?) was pretty well behaved, and didn't scream for the whole flight. I'll have to admit that both Dyanne and I were looking closely at this little baby, as it intently watched its momma's face, smiling from time to time. Fond memories of Alan when he was that tiny.

On the climb phase of the flight out of Detroit, it was a bit surprising to watch the wing of our 747-400 aircraft flex, along with the engines moving around on their mounts. Metal IS flexible, right?

There was a computer screen in front of us (mounted on the bulkhead) that displayed the airplane's position on a map of the US & Canada, so you could see your position. Other neat info displayed included the airspeed, altitude, outside air temperature, distances flown & remaining, and Estimated Time of Arrival in Tokyo.

Here's a couple pictures of the screen I'm talking about:

Everybody else on the flight was even more excited than me!
