This year at home, we've had several Cooper's Hawks in the trees behind the creek in our back yard. As I write this, I can hear them calling up in the trees. They are amazing birds - fierce & beautiful. I've seen them snatch up baby rabbits in the back yard, and for some reason, the bird-feeder-raiding squirrel population has also disappeared.

The pictures below were taken through a double pane insulated glass window (excuse the crappy, blurred photos), around 6:30AM on 7/21/07. We had three hawks sitting on the fence in our back yard. There were two smaller birds (?juveniles), and a larger hawk. I tried sliding open the window ever so slowly, but the hawks could hear it, and two flew away the second the window moved.
